I'd Like You to Meet

Meet Melody…

Throughout the years I have had the privilege and honor of working with the most fabulous women entrepreneurs. It didn’t make sense for me to keep them all to myself so I am excited to launch a new blog called, “I’d like you to meet…”

Each week I will introduce you to an amazing female entrepreneur that is pursuing her passion as a FT, PT or side gig business owner. She may even be able to offer you a product or service you need or can offer up some sound advice to help you grow your business.

Without further ado, I would like you to meet Melody. I met Melody about a month ago when she signed up to be one of my first Branding on a Budget clients! We worked together to nail down her visual branding for her business, Flip The Switch Fitness.

Name & Business Name: Melody Swehla, Flip the Switch Fitness

Where can we find you online? Instagram, Facebook and Email

Tell us a little about you and your background?  I started my business almost 6 months ago. I live in St. Louis, MO with my husband and two energetic little girls. In high school I realized I wanted a career helping and educating people and ending up going to nursing school. As a nurse, I worked in the ICU, surgery and orthopedics. I loved interacting with, caring for and educating patients. A few years into my nursing career I took an interest in health and fitness. For years I wanted to work within the fitness field but did not pursue this passion until last year. As a primarily stay at home mom I knew I wanted and needed something more so I faced my fears, swallowed my self doubt and became a certified personal trainer.

What prompted you to start your business? I know from my own personal experience of having a hectic schedule as a nurse and then a stay at home mom that sometimes trying to find the time to fit a workout in isn’t easy, especially if it requires leaving the house to get to a gym or studio. But trying to hold yourself accountable and stay on track without a community or the accountability is often very difficult. Therefore I wanted to create workouts that were convenient and time saving for clients to join and provide a sense of accountability and community to create healthy habits to maintain a better, balanced life.

Who is your target client? My target client is a female between 30-60.

What does your typical morning look like? My typical morning starts with an early morning workout followed by a Zoom or business prep for the week. Although I do not love getting out of bed at 4 am, I love that early start to my day before my little ones awake.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to other small business owners/early entrepreneurs? There are many times I question myself and wonder if I have what it takes to build a successful business. Self doubt is a total buzz kill. I would often find myself with so many ideas but not executing them because I was overthinking. My advice is create a word, phrase or mantra and repeat it to yourself, write it out on paper, post it where you will frequently see it. Imperfect action is better than no action. Take that leap and invest in your business. I highly recommend finding a mentor or coach you trust and connect with for guidance, knowledge, support and help.
